Pregnancy is such an emotional and life changing season. It is exciting, a little overwhelming at times, and filled with quiet moments where you suddenly realise everything is about to shift. There is a tiny person growing, and your world is expanding in the most beautiful way. This is exactly why maternity photography is so meaningful. It captures this in between chapter before life looks completely different.
Maternity photos are not about stiff poses or trying to look perfect. They are about how this time feels. The connection, the anticipation, the softness, and the strength. My role is to create a space where you feel comfortable and cared for, so genuine moments can unfold naturally in front of the camera.
Why maternity photography matters so much
Your body is doing something extraordinary. Even if you do not always feel glowing, there is a quiet beauty in this stage that deserves to be remembered. Years from now, these images will not just show how you looked. They will remind you of the waiting, the excitement, and the love that already existed before your baby arrived.
During your session, I gently guide you so you never feel awkward or unsure. Nothing forced and nothing over the top. Just natural movement, beautiful light, and real connection. Whether we are outdoors at sunset or in the studio, the focus is always on creating images that feel timeless and true to you.

When to book your maternity session
The ideal time for maternity photos is usually between 30 and 36 weeks of pregnancy. Your belly is beautifully round, but you are still comfortable enough to move, walk, and enjoy the experience. Every pregnancy is different though, so we can always talk about what feels right for you.
Studio or outdoor maternity photos
Both options are beautiful, just in different ways.
Outdoor sessions have a dreamy, natural feel. Think open space, fresh air, and soft sunset light. They are perfect if you love nature and want images that feel relaxed and organic.
Studio sessions are calm, intimate, and beautifully styled. With controlled light and a simple setting, the focus is completely on you, your shape, and the emotion of the moment. This is a lovely option if you prefer a more polished and classic look.
Some mums choose to experience both, which gives you two different looks from the same special chapter.

Including your partner or children
If this is not your first baby, including your partner or little ones can make your images even more meaningful. The way tiny hands rest on your belly or the way your partner looks at you during this time tells a story that words simply cannot. These moments often become the most treasured images of all.
More than just photos
After your session, your images deserve more than living on a screen. Seeing your photographs printed and displayed in your home is where the real magic happens. Albums, framed artwork, and wall pieces turn this chapter of your story into something you can see and feel every day.
Pregnancy can feel long while you are in it, but once your baby is here, this season passes in a heartbeat. Having these photographs becomes a beautiful reminder of where your journey together began.

Continuing the story from bump to baby
One of the most special things about maternity photography is that it captures the beginning of your baby’s story. But the story does not end there. Just a short time later, your baby is in your arms, tiny, sleepy, and completely new to the world.
Many families choose to document both stages, pregnancy and those early newborn days, because together they tell a complete story. The anticipation, the waiting, the quiet strength of pregnancy, followed by the softness, closeness, and overwhelming love once your baby arrives. When you see those images side by side, the connection between them is incredibly powerful.
Photographing both sessions also means everything flows beautifully. The style, the tones, and the feeling of your images stay consistent, creating a collection of portraits that truly reflect this life changing chapter.
If you know you would love to remember both how it felt to carry your baby and what those first tiny days looked like, planning maternity and newborn photos together can make the whole experience feel relaxed and seamless.
This season of life passes so quickly. One moment you are feeling those little kicks, and the next you are holding your baby in your arms. Having both stages documented means you are not just remembering how it looked, but how it felt to grow your family.
If you are expecting and would love to capture your pregnancy and those early newborn days in a natural, relaxed way, I would love to help you create something truly meaningful. You can explore my maternity and newborn photography experience and see how the journey flows from bump to baby.
These moments are fleeting, but your memories do not have to be.
