I’m Mel, the photographer behind the lens, and I’m so grateful you’re here and taking part in this year’s Family of the Year experience.
Based in Perth, Western Australia, I’ve spent many years photographing families through all stages of parenthood. From pregnancy and newborn days to the beautifully busy season of family life. My approach is always relaxed, natural and heartfelt, with a focus on real connection rather than stiff posing.
This competition is about celebrating families and the stories that make them unique. By voting and getting involved, you’re not only supporting the families you love — you’re also in the running to win a portrait experience credit with me as a thank you for being part of it.
Creating a calm, welcoming experience is always at the heart of what I do, so families can feel comfortable and truly themselves in front of the camera.
